I am presently working on a project to erect engraved stone monuments at the entrance to two townlands. The first is my grandfather's birthplace, BENMORE, Co. Roscommon which lies on the Cos. Galway / Roscommon border about 3 1/2 miles west and north of Dunmore, Co.Galway. The other is my great grandfather's birthplace, CASHLIEVE which lies about one mile north and east of Ballinlough, Co. Roscommon. Mr. Kelly at Kelly's Monuments in Tuam, Co. Galway has agreed to visit the sites and give me an estimate of the costs to engrave the stones along with delivery and installation. But, I do not want to settle for the townland names in English only, but also want the names in Irish Gaelic and in the Old Irish script engraved on the stones. That then presented a problem as I would like to be able to print the names out in the old script in order to design the stones. Luckily, I found this website http://www.iol.ie/~inishowen/ where you can download the script to your PC and then install it into MS Windows. It is then available for formatting text in Word, Internet Explorer and other Windows applications. Many thanks to Inishowen Heritage site for making this font available for download.
