Can anyone help me with information about my family .I have been searching and searching and I'm not coming up with any solid information that tell me my grandfather's birht date . my great grandparents date of marriage and if there were other children. My grandfather is Thomas Flanagan born some time around 1868 His parents were- Thomas Flanagan and Catherine Flynn That is all the information I have been able to find except on a passport he states he was from Clooncrafield. Please help. Thank you, Deirdre

    3. Dierdre, Ireland started keeping civil records of births, deaths and marriages, and indexing them, in 1864. These have been microfilmed; some are available thru LDS. The indexes are available to well into the 20th century; actual birth records until about 1880; actual death and marriage records until 1870. You should be able to find the birth for your Thomas Flanagan if you start with the 1868 index, then work back and forth a year at a time. Check out the LDS website at www.familysearch.org. Click on the library tab to find one of their branches near you, and search their catalog for likely microfilms. Good luck.
