Cyril, Here's my input to your surname research. The only cemetery I know of in Boyle is the Assylinn cemetery. There's two (old & the "new" one) on each side of the dirt road and over looks the Boyle river. However, there's no caretaker or office nor are their any records of burial information that I know of. In addition, a lot of the older graves do not have gravestones, just some sort of a marker, that at the time of burial, the family knew. Also, if the graves are not maintained by a family member, then the vegetation grows out of control all around them. I am very interested in your research of the name "SHREHORNE (SHREEHANE? SHRIANE" My family Clan name is Sheerin/Sheeran. They all lived in and around the Boyle area from as early as the 1780's to the present. A lot of them were Baptized in St. Joseph's RC Church in Boyle. The spelling of that name goes from Sheerin/Sheeran to Sherin, Sheran, Sheron, Shern, Sherran and etc. My cousin, who now lives in Salthill, Galway, told me he was told that they were a small clan in the big McDermott Clan in Co. Donegal. After losing a battle there to Cornwallis, they all migrated to the Boyle area in Co. Roscommon. Having been to Ireland many time and looking at various documents, i.e Census, Church Baptism Records, Civil Birth records, Griffiths, the LDS records and etc. that the spelling of "Sheerin/Sheeran" varied according to who wrote the name down. I maintain a rather large Sheerin Surname file and I searched it for your "variation". However, I do not have a "John SHREHORNE (SHREEHANE? SHRIANE who was born about 1800 in Frenchpark, Co. Roscommon and married Mary FLAHERTY about 1820. Do you have any other family information on John & Mary, Parents or children's name??? I hope this can help you a little bit in your surname research. Please let me know if it does and keep in contact. Jake Sheerin, Annapolis MD (formerly from Lowell MA)
At what point did your Shrehan migrate into the US? I have a Hanora Shrehand/Sheehan/Sheron the came in about 1830. She lived in Rhode Island then New York before marrying then migrating west.
