    3. Hello everyone! Just whilst this very useful List is so active, I'll outline details of my Roscommon ancestors - just in case the information jogs someone's memory! I'm in search of a townland for Martin NEARY/NARY b. 1817 in Roscommon (according to English census records) and his wife Bridget MURRAY, also b. in Roscommon in 1807. They were married at St. Chad's Cathedral in Birmingham in 1835 and had six sons: James, Edward, JOHN, James, Peter and Martin. I am descended from John b. 1839 and who spent nearly 30 years in India as a soldier. The 1841 census for Birmingham lists about five NEARY families, the majority of whom named their first son James - so it could be that I'm looking for a Martin b. to a James NEARY. The other names in census records at the time were: Edward, John, Thomas, Michael and Patrick - a couple of Edwards if I remember correctly. Would be delighted to hear from anyone who has an interest in this name, however tenuous. With every good wish.... Valerie Kennedy (Launceston, Tasmania, Aust. but born in Birmingham, UK)
