    1. [ROSCOMMON] Scott's in Elphin
    2. Hi everyone~ I have relatives (Scott and Neary) that still live in the Elphin, County Roscommon area. But there seem to be a great many more Scott's the Elphin area that I can't connect to my family. My grandparents were Richard and Delia Scott and my Uncle Joe Scott who was well known in Elphin. They are buried in the family plot at St Patricks RC Church cemetary. Any thoughts?

    3. Hello there!! I just saw the name NEARY and just had to contact you. I've been trying to find a townland for my NEARY family, who left Roscommon in the early 1830's and moved to the industrial city of Birmingham in the UK. My earliest "proved" ancestor is Martin NEARY b. 1817 in Roscommon (according to English census records) and married Bridget MURRAY b. 1807 also in Roscommon - same records. They had six sons: James, Edward, JOHN, James, Peter and Martin. I am descended from John, who spent nearly 30 years of his life as a soldier in India. I would presume that Martin's father was called James - so I'm always looking for a James NEARY - somewhere. Perhaps you could put me in touch with some NEARY people - or a NEARY person - but, of course, after all this time, it's going to be nigh impossible for anyone to remember a family who went to Birmingham nearly 200 years ago! There were several NEARY families in Birmingham for the 1841 Census and most of them called their first son James... so they could all have been brothers, perhaps. Sorry if I've given you a request with which you cannot comply - but I seem to latch on to any little it of info. concerning this name in Roscommon! With every good wish....
