I don't know if this will work or not, but thought I would give it a try. While in Athlone last month, we stopped at St. Peter and Paul's Church in Athlone. A woman came out of the sacristry area and started talking to us. I told her that I had information that my great-great grandmother, Catherine Murray was baptized in 1817 in Athlone R.C. Parish. I wondered what church it was. She took us back in the sacristy, looked up her name in an index and then pulled out the old book containing her baptismal entry. It was there at St. Peters. What a treat! She allowed us to take a digital photo of the entry and also of a photo sitting above the chest of Old St. Peter's Church where Catherine was baptized. Old St. Peter's was very near the B & B. where we stayed in the town, and has a new facade on the front of it because it is now a live theatre.
