Our family goes back to JOHN MULDOWNEY, a tenant farmer in the townland of Moigh, Parish of Tumna in the 1830's. He had about nine acres, and THOMAS MULDOWNEY leased another approx. nine acres. Later, at the time of Griffiths's, our great-grandfather, (son of the elder John, above) leased both these pieces of land and he was the only Muldowney in Moigh. His brother TIMOTHY MULDOWNEY ran the bakery/grocery in the townalnd of Cootehall, across from the catholic church. Sons and daughters of the elder John and Thomas of Moigh immigrated to the USA. Some settled in the Boston, Massachusetts area; others in Albany, New York, and Amsterdam, New York; and Sandusky, Ohio. I'm not sure how the McGEE fits into the family, but it does seem to... more than once. I'm happy to exchange information and would appreciate any help in breaking down the brick walls!
