I usually stay at Bewley's Hotel in Temple Bar because I like being in the city center, a quick walk to the Library, the College and other attractions. The hotel is not expensive by Dublin standards; clean, surprisingly quiet for the location and very safe (I occasionally travel by myself). Check out the room first. Some of them are on the tiny side. Big continental breakfast in the adjoining Tea Shop. Drawbacks: narrow hallways, and many steps making heavy luggage a big challenge. I always take a taxi or the bus from the airport and pick up a car on my way out of town. It is hard enough just being a pedestrian in Dublin! Ellen McCarthy
