Susan, I too will be visiting Ireland in late August. My family research is around Athlone. I will be traveling alone, and the purpose of the trip, my first to Ireland, is exclusively genealogy research. Where would you suggest I look to stay? I'm flying into Galway and plan to drive to Athlone. Possibly drive up to Dublin for a day or two, and spend second week in Scotland. Any trips for the trip appreciated from anyone.
