    3. Patty. Looking for O'Beirne on the CD Vital Records Index there are 18 entries from 1818 to 1863. Looking at Bierne and all of the various spelling there are 1806, the earliest is 1791. Jack

    1. Re: [ROSCOMMON] Roscommon Parkes
    2. john liddy
    3. Patrick, looking in the CD set Vital Records Index I came up with 1 Parkes in Roscommon, a christening for Catherine Parkes 21 Jun 1842, daughter of John and Catherine Carrol Parkes in Boyle, and 1 Parks, Michael 6 Apr 1862 son of Samuel and Mary Carley Parks in Strokestown. Over all the were 279 listings for Parke, 119 for Parks and 29 for Parkes in all of Ireland listed on this CD which covers mostly the time period of 1860 to 1875 but is far from complete. Jack

    3. Many thanks, Jack, for those Parkes names, they are new to me. They will serve as another avenue to explore in what seems like an endless search for my Roscommon heritage. I have traced it to an ancestor, Robert Parke, who leased and later bought land from Robert Sandford in Cloonree, Castlerea in March 1734. The backwards trail ends there -- I have been unable to find where this Robert Parke came from or who were his parents. I have a suspicion he was related to the Parkes families of Dunally, Co. Sligo but have located no documentation. Also, I have many Park/e/s in counties Sligo, Leitrim and even Donegal but none fits. I appreciate your help. Patrick

    1. [ROSCOMMON] O'BEIRNE - Roscommon and Rhode Island, USA
    2. Loree
    3. I'm looking for two O'Beirnes. Not sure the families are from Roscommon... but I know it's a populous name in the county. MICHAEL O'BEIRNE, b. 1851 Ireland. Immigrated to Rhode Island, USA, perhaps about 1870. I only know his parents were "Thomas and Margaret" and I don't know of any siblings he might have had. My other search is even more obscure. I was looking for a baptism of John McGIRL in Co. Leitrim. Son of THOMAS and MARY McGIRL. All that was was found was a ROSA McGIRL, daughter of THOMAS McGIRL and MARY O'BEIRNE, ca 1840s. 3. Hi Marie, This query does not specifically relate to family history. It does relate to the history of the area in which I live and the work I'm doing on cemeteries in our area. So you can see why I won't be following this last piece of advice, good though it is for other circumstances. Sincere thanks for your input. 3. I also had good luck trying Catholic Church Baptism and Marriage Records. If the birth place was for a marriage, try locating a birth record for one of the kids. Maybe you'll get lucky and find the correct spelling or even a town! That happened to me in County Roscommon with my ancestors. Marie Marie Ippolito, First Vice President, F. C. 2. Friends. The time varies at different times of the year. Not everyone in Europe goes on Daylight Saving Time at the same time we do. Thus, sometimes the difference between East Coast time and Ireland time varies by an hour. George ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
