    2. Michele
    3. A cousin had in her marriage announcement in the newspaper that the best man at her wedding was Luke Padian of New York. The marriage occurred in Philadelphia in 1955. I have been trying to figure out if and exactly how he is related. The bride's maternal aunt was Bridget (nee Beirne or O'Beirne) Padian in Scramogue. Was Luke Padian the son of our Bridget Padian? A search of this list's archives indicate that this is a good possibility. Is anyone currently on the list researching this family? Michele

    3. Am researching Arthur Flynn who may have been born c1811 or 1821. He emigrated from Cork in 1845 aboard the Agile to New York. He met Johana McCarthy in Boston and they traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where their son James was born in 1850. They also lived in Chicago, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri. Arthur's son's death certificate said he was from Co. Roscommon. Martha Parker

    3. Good day I too searched the Irish Family History Foundation's Online Research site. I find it useful but frustrating. I was able to find records for all of my grandfather's sibs but not his, nor his brother Michael. The site is expensive for a site that provides so little prepurchase information and the download is available only if one cuts and pastes to another doc. I do post the warts I pay for hoping that someone will benefit from my wart purchase. To date, no one has indicated that I found them anything of interest. But I feel that the postings make the cost an expense I share with other researchers. I urge anyone who purchases info that is not pertinent to their search to copy and paste it and let the group know what was found and then the document can be shared off line. I admit to being spoiled by advances in computer programming but must admit that I am equally frustrated by ancestry.com. I know that it takes resources to scan, decode, recode, store, etc information but ancestry is also expensive. I often wonder why I am paying for the US Census, an item I think the US government should provide without cost since the costs incurred were paid by my precious tax dollars. So many items on this site should be available without cost but alas, not so. 1. [ROSCOMMON] MULDOWNEY, MCGEE, Ardcarne RC Parish (Cootehall)
    2. Loree
    3. Our family goes back to JOHN MULDOWNEY, a tenant farmer in the townland of Moigh, Parish of Tumna in the 1830's. He had about nine acres, and THOMAS MULDOWNEY leased another approx. nine acres. Later, at the time of Griffiths's, our great-grandfather, (son of the elder John, above) leased both these pieces of land and he was the only Muldowney in Moigh. His brother TIMOTHY MULDOWNEY ran the bakery/grocery in the townalnd of Cootehall, across from the catholic church. Sons and daughters of the elder John and Thomas of Moigh immigrated to the USA. Some settled in the Boston, Massachusetts area; others in Albany, New York, and Amsterdam, New York; and Sandusky, Ohio. I'm not sure how the McGEE fits into the family, but it does seem to... more than once. I'm happy to exchange information and would appreciate any help in breaking down the brick walls! Loree Muldowney

    3. Hi, I'm wondering if there's a site somewhere where I can find marriage information for my ggg grandparents, Jane Burke (b. 1813) and Henry Walker (b. ca. 1812 to 15). I don't know whether they were married in County Rosecommon or County Galway. Jane was born in C. Rosecommon, and Henry in Co. Galway. Based on the age of their eldest child, Henry Jr., I figure they were married sometime around 1834 or earlier. For those who can follow the Irish naming system, their offspring were: Henry Winifred Robert James Mary Jane Gilbert Thanks for any help. 2. Re-posting regarding my great-grandfather, James Benson and his brother John. We believe they left the village of Keadue, County Roscommon, in the early 1850's, with James settling in Ontario, Canada, and John eventually settling in Chicago. I am searching for current Irish BENSONs (or spelling variants) who know of matching information in their ancestry. I'm also seeking to contact Jim Henderson and John Kennedy of the UK, to compare notes again. Thanks! Ken Benson in Toronto, Canada

    3. Hello..... Never have had any success locating anyone else searching for my ancestors but thanks for the chance to repost - Family stories indicate that: Martin Foley and his cousin James (a teacher) left County Kerry in 1798 - the names I have for Martin's parents are Kernic (Kenric?) Foley and Mary Kelly. I think they lived in or near Killorgin. 5 sons of Martin Foley and Mary Grehan emigrated to the United States (Boston) from Taughmaconnell, County Roscommon between 1835 and 1850. Patrick (1815-1890) (Ontario, Canada) Thomas (1818-1882) (Ontario, Canada) William (1820-1888) (Canada and Minnesota) John (c1825- ) (Westerly, R.I.) Martin (Brooklyn) I have never been able to find any of them listed on ships' lists and do not know the port from which they left Ireland. Again family history says that they came in 1835 but with the birth dates I have find it hard to believe that they all came at the same time. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thomas Foley was my GGrandfather. . Maureen Clark, Ottawa, Canada.

    3. I am also re-posting information on my G/Grandfather Jeremiah (o/a 1840) Sheerin's family. The local Baptism records have his 1st name listed as Jeremiah, Dermot and Darby. His surname is listed as Sheerin and Sheeran. Jeremiah was married to Jane McDermott in a local nearby town in Co. Sligo in 1957. They lived and raised their family in the village of Doon, Boyle, Roscommon County. They had all their "known" children Baptized in St. Joseph's Church in Boyle. I have most, if not all, the Baptism information of all the known children and their families from the 1860's on. However, I don't have the Birth or Baptism dates of my Grandfather Jeremiah Sheerin (o/a 1863)!! He left Doon sometime before 1896, I have him in Lowell MA in 1896. Thanks for any help.
