    3. Thanks all. As late as 1986 these records were still kept in Dublin. Nice that all records were not destroyed by fires and the like. I don't know if they are still there, but nice others are working on this as well. These records were recorded I understand in a very old book, and that probably saved them from being burned. Also I understand that records held in Australia before the four courts fire were saved in that manner. So all we have to do is find them in Australia, wherever that is. Thanks again all. More in a couple of days. donkelly -------------- Original message ---------------------- From: roscommon-request@rootsweb.com > > > DIGEST IN MIME FORMAT > > Today's Topics: > > 1. 3. Over the remainder of this month we will post ships lists from the County Roscommon database. These Roscommon people left Liverpool and landed about a month later in New York. Several ships were involved and we will list those passengers one ship at a time. Next month we will post convicts from Roscommon who were transported for seven year minimum to South Wales Australia. Apparently hundreds of Finians were transported to Australia. Great holiday all. donkelly, RoscommonGenWeb

    3. Hello Max - FreeBMD confirms your record of the marriage: 1852 Sep Q Chorley (covers Leyland) Vol 8e Page 477. Owen CONNOR and Ellen CONNOR. The marriage certificate should give fathers' names and occupations (if you don't already have the cert of course). That might help a little in locating them in Ireland. 2. Lisa Hawkins
    3. Wow, thanks for the swift responses! I guess I should have told you what I know for sure, so far. I have looked at the family on the 1901 census. The remaining members at that time are: living at Carrownamaddy: Maria Regan age 50 - farmer/widow Timothy Regan age 22 John Regan age 20 James Regan age 18 Kate Regan age 15 Bridget Regan age 14 The whole family is as follows: 1. PATRICK1 REGAN was born Abt. 1800, and died 09 Apr 1880 in Carnamoda, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. He married ELIZABETH PHILLIPS. Child of PATRICK REGAN and ELIZABETH PHILLIPS is: 2. i. TIMOTHY2 REGAN was born Abt. 1832, and died 18 Aug 1890 in Carrownamaddy, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. He married MARIA MELIA Abt. 1870, daughter of BARTHOLOMEW MELIA and MARY COX. She was born Abt. 1851. Children of TIMOTHY REGAN and MARIA MELIA are: i. MARY ANN3 REGAN, b. 10 Sep 1871, Corgarrow, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. ii. THOMAS REGAN, b. 20 Jun 1873, Lismakeegan, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. iii. ETTY REGAN, b. 24 Oct 1874, Corgorrow, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. iv. TIMOTHY REGAN, b. 22 Mar 1876, Corgarrow, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. v. PETER REGAN, b. 09 Feb 1878, Cloonahee, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. vi. JOHN REGAN, b. 21 Feb 1880, Carrownamaddy, Co. Roscommon, Ireland; d. Abt. 20 Dec 1962, Ballycomoyle, Co. Westmeath, Ireland. vii. JAMES JOSEPH REGAN, b. 16 Apr 1882, Cloonahee, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. viii. MICHAEL FRANCIS REGAN, b. 16 Apr 1882, Cloonahee, Co. Roscommon, Ireland; d. 16 Sep 1882, Carnamoda, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. ix. KATE REGAN, b. 22 May 1885, Carrownamaddy, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. x. BRIDGET REGAN, b. 20 Oct 1887, Carrownamaddy, Co. Roscommon, Ireland. I have it on good authority that Mary Ann (Maria), Timothy and Bridget never married. They all lived in the family home until they died. So, that leaves me Thomas Regan, Etty Regan, Peter Regan and Michael Francis Regan to go at. Thanks for all your ideas - I will surely follow them up. 1. [ROSCOMMON] Hello everyone
    2. Lisa Hawkins
    3. Hi everyone, I have just joined the mailing list today. My name is Lisa and my grandad John Regan was born in Carownamaddy, Roscommon in 1880. I have only recently found this out, as John was in the police in Ireland until he 'left' along with many others in 1922. He settled with his young family in Westmeath, where my dad Sylvester was born in 1930. He was very secretive about his life in Roscommon, to the point that his children know next-to-nothing about it. It is just recently that I had some research done over in Roscommon and we have uncovered the names of his brothers and sisters and his parents and grandparents - all previously unknown. So, I am new to Roscommon research. I also recently wrote a letter to the Roscommon Herald and have had a lovely reply from an old man of 86 who remembers talk of the Regan family in Carownamaddy. He has even sent me a map of the 'homestead' as he calls it. I am interested in finding any descendants of the Regan family. I have five siblings of John Regan to yet account for, so still something to go at. I have just written to the priest in Elphin to see if he can uncover any more details for me. It seems they would have worshipped at Creeve church. So, that's my introduction for now. I look forward to joining in any discussions I am able to.
