    1. [ROSCOMMON] RE: Michael Flynn--
    2. janet sandberg
    3. Hello Allison-So many Michael Flynns, Unfortunately These records don't usually have a middle initial! These are all of the Flynn/Loftus children in Roscommon--(can look up any that you see). There are so many Michael Flynn births, would be difficult for me to pinpoint him without a particular or approximate year! And these records donot seem to go as late as 1888. FLYN, Johannem Chr 1841 Irel Rosc Rosaki Fa: Jacobi FLYN Mo: Mariae LOFTIS FLYNN, Gulielmum Chr 1851 Irel Rosc Rosaki Fa: Jacobi FLYNN Mo: Mariae LOFTUS FLYNN, Patrick Bir 1870 Irel Rosc Fa: Michael FLYNN Mo: Bridget LOFTUS FLYNN, Bridget Bir 1872 Irel Rosc Fa: Michael FLYNN Mo: Bridget LOFTUS If Michael had a child in 1888, I would think he would have been born at least 20 years earlier?, But is a guess at best. 3. Hello Jeannine-Happy to have a look-- The surname Byrnes and the variations seem to be a common name in Roscommon! 1. [ROSCOMMON] Lookups and Thanks!
    2. janet sandberg
    3. First , Thank you to Richard Callanan for your note about the 'Latin' names. I have a list somewhere, but of course I cannot find it!! Your information is most useful! I am sorry that there are a couple of listers not happy with my lookups, one referred them to 'spam' and the other not interested in the posting of the info to the list. I am more than happy to do these lookups, and my feeling is that by posting them to the list, others may benefit from seeing all of the names associated with a particular surname, therefore possibly finding a clue as to their own ancestors. That is exactly how I found a couple of my elusive relatives, and have been lucky enough to correspond with relatives still in Ireland, as well as meeting them. I am sorry if a couple are annoyed, but you can always hit 'delete', and not be bothered. So simple. So, I will continue to post them, unless the list administrator tells me otherwise, and then, to all interested, I am more than happy to look for your requests privately!! 1. [ROSCOMMON] RE: Quinn/Tiernan
    2. janet sandberg
    3. Hi Joy- I don't see that marriage listed in these records, and yes the name you gave are the Latin names. Do you have that marriage record? Here is a birth of a Bernardum Quinn, the only one that may fit if he was married in 1857-- QUINN, Bernardum Christening Gender: Male Christening Date: 6 Oct 1811 Recorded in: Athlone and Drum, Roscommon, Ireland Collection: Roman Catholic Father: Danielis QUINN Mother: Mariae LAWLER Source: FHL Film 989750 Dates: 1810 - 1820 I don't see an Anne to those parents, but there is a Patrick Tiernan and a Maraie Mulloy with children, but later than when your Anne would have been born. Now, Cootehall is the Parish for Ardcan and Tuama-- Go to this website, click on Roscommon and then just hold the mouse over Cottehall, and the different townlands will be shown-- Janet http://scripts.ireland.com/ancestor/browse/counties/rcmaps/roscommonrc.htm _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

    2. You mentioned your Bridget had a brother john and the name was spelled Gately at times. I'm researching a John Gately from Roscommon. He was born 1840 came to the US and settled in Jersey City, New Jersey. Married Ellen ? maybe Doyle still checking. Any connection with you. Teri

    1. [ROSCOMMON] Healey and Gaitley
    2. John Siemon
    3. Janet (or anyone else with info on these names), Can you search your CD's for these names. I am trying to find the townland and records for Thomas HEALEY and his wife Bridget GAITLEY. Both of their obituaries said they were born in County Roscommon. Thomas HEALEY (or HEALY, sometimes HALEY) was born between 1815 and 1820 (depending on which US source). Bridget GAITLEY (sometimes GATELY) was born about 1830. I think she had a brother named John. They were in Baltimore by 1852, not sure if they were married in Ireland or the US. If you don't find them, is there a townland or parish where the predominance of those names came from? Anything you can find on the surnames will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all of your efforts on the list. John

    1. [ROSCOMMON] IGO DUFFY (HOLDEN) Vermont
    2. While I'm not sure about Rutland, at least some of the IGO & DUFFY/LACEY line stopped in Vermont circa 1840 on their way to Schuylkill. Several IGO children were born in VT and NY on the way to Schuylkill, PA. As to Ballykilkline the REYNOLD line married to the IGO line comes from Kilglass, but the only Schuylkill IGO birth record (mother HOLDEN) that was early enough for my bunch (1840) was: 8 Mar 1840; John Igo; Fil. William Igo & Anne Holden; Sp. Micheal Sharkell & Catherine Farrell (Lissonuffy Parish Records, , Strokestown, Co. Roscommon, Ireland) So I'm not sure if that is the Kilglass area. Lori
