There aren't many useful location indicators in this area. How about 3 miles NNE of Keadew/Keadue and 4 miles NW of Drumshanbo. If you need more detail, I can give you all of the surrounding townlands (off-list) which might be of some interest to you. 3. Hello all. After such great information from Janet I thought I would post the following: I have had the good fortune to visit Boyle three times and spent some time exploring the Church of Ireland cemetery two of those times, since that is where my Armstrongs are buried. I realise many listers are researching Catholic families and this may be of no use at all, however I was also able to look through the parish registers for the Church of Ireland there, with the help of a local gentleman, Billy Reid. This gave me some great further information. Maybe this will be of use to someone sometime. I never cease to be impressed with the generosity of people involved in family research. Regards to all, Patsy. New Zealand (I, too, read all the postings and find them interesting even if they have no part in my research - great to know so many people are researching around Roscommon, esp, Boyle)

    3. It's the first time I have seen another McGuinness on the list (not a common name in the area) so here is a summary of my interest. There are 26 variant spellings of McGuinness! - here I've plumped for one. Jack McGuinness born before 1815 "in Jack Jones" married Biddy (Brigid) Gearty around 1830. They were small tenant farmers and lived at Cloonmore, Parish of Termonbarry, near Strokestown, Co Roscommon. They had six children: 1) Martin 2) Catherine 3) Elizabeth 4) Anne 5) Mary 6) Frank 1) Martin (ggrandfather) married Rose Farrell ("A cousin of Peter Duffy"). Their children John, George, Thomas (my grandfather, married Catherine Cox - daughter of James Cox and Julia Gavigan), Joseph, Eliza (married Gilmartin, emigrated to Chicago, was living at Albany Avenue in 1918), Margaret, Frank. 2) Catherine married George Egan "of Old Road". Children: Patrick, Bridget. 3) Elizabeth married Thomas Egan "of Lack" (brother or cousin of George above). Children: 3 daughters including Catherine and Mary. 4) Anne married twice i) Somebody Leonard. ii) Somebody Spollon, from Newtown. No known children. 5) Mary married Michael Cox "of North Yard". Children: John, "a daughter who married a Fallon". 6) Frank - no more information - may have died in childhood. If these ring any bells I have more information on the next generation. Richard Callanan, London, England.

    3. Hello Janet, I missed the early flurry of these wonderfully informative emails, so do not know which CD you have. I was delighted to see the one listing a Michael Byrne/Beirne. It is the first time I have seen a Michael mentioned and he could possibly be mine as the time frame is right. My Michael was the father of my husband's great-grandmother Anne who was born in 1849, so could have been the sister of the Andrew you mentioned, born 1845. Gratefully, Therese.

    3. Kathleen, Please do not leave, because if you want to find your ancestors and you must or else you would not have joined us in the first place, then this is the best way to find the elusive ones. Just glance at the Subject line and if the name does not interest you, just "Delete". Be patient with those of us who are wildly excited by the flurry of information flying across the ether at present. Many of us who are on the other side of the world are eternally grateful to people like Janet who give so much help to others. What are your family names? Maybe someone can help you and then you too will be wildly excited as we all are. Therese.
