Bear in mind that while this Census record SAYS that this Charles ROPER is SINGLE, that this infomration was very likely furnished by the person heading the large rooming house where Charles ROPER seemed to be staying. Perhaps he had returned to Ohio to find work to support his family or perhaps he was estranged from his wife Emma.
