Transcribed from an image of the original by William Alexander Roper, Jr., on Saturday, 27 Nov 2004. * * * NOTE 1: This is clearly the Will of Anne Walker ROPER, widow of Francis ROPER, and daughter-in-law of John ROPER, 3rd Baron Teynham. NOTE 2: The Will of Francis ROPER (“Will of Francis Rooper or Roper”), dated 01 Feb 1689 and was Proved 22 Apr 1692, is amongst the “Prerogative Court of Canterbury” holdings of the British Public Records Office and is available through the online facility of the PRO. That Will names wife “Anne”, son “John” and daughters “Mary Catherine” and “Elizabeth”. It appears that Elizabeth must have died between 1689 and 1702. A number of sources show three daughters: “Mary”, Elizabeth” and “Catherine”. It is VERY clear from BOTH the Francis ROPER and the Anne ROPER Will that a single daughter bears the name “Mary Catherine”. I will Post a transcription of the Francis ROPER Will at a future date. NOTE 3: Some secondary sources show Anne WALKER to be of Bringwood, Herefordshire, England. I am unaware of any primary authority for that assertion. Secondary sources show another son of Francis and Ann Walker ROEPR --Francis ROPER -- who died young. Secondary sources assert that John ROPER, Elizabeth and Mary Catherine ROPER all died unmarried. I am unfamiliar with any primary authority for this information, but am also aware of no contrary information. * * * Copyright William Alexander Roper, Jr., 2004.
