John Roper/Raper was born Ireland April 1839 came to US in 1861 Catherine Roper/Raper (maiden name unknown) was born Ireland December 1840 came to US in 1865 NOTE the 1900 census indicates that John had been in the US for 39 years. Catherine had been in US for 35 years. However the same census says they have been married for 36 years. This would seem to indicate that they were married as soon as Catherine arrived in US. Children *James J Roper/Raper b October 1867 in TN (from 1900 census) married Ismena b Ireland February 1874 maiden name probably Sheridan as he is found on census with brother in law Phillip M Sheridan b Ireland and sister in law Francis J Sheridan b Ireland Children Ismena dtr b Dec 1891 CO Joseph son b Nov 1893 CO Helen dtr b June 1896 CO John son b 1900 probably in January CO *Cecilia Agnes Roper/Raper b abt 1869 in TN married Daniel J McGillis on 6/26/1886 Children James McGillis b May 1888 CO CatherineMcGillis b Dec 1891 CO *Bartholomew Roper/Raper aka Bartley Roper b February 1870, in TN. in 1900 was living in Rio Grande, Cojenos, CO married Jennie b Oct 1878, Children Mary C Roper b March 1899 CO *Mary Roper/Raper - did not find a record of marriage for Mary, however in the 1910 census she is shown living with John and Katherine along with her daughter Mary (identified as grand daughter of John and Katherine) born CO. (her marital status is listed is single) -= Mary is also found again in the 1920 census living with Catherine Roper age 82. Mary’s marital status is listed as single. *Francis Roper/Raper He appears in the 1900 census (may be used Frank for Francis) *Antonio/Anthony Roper/Raper no record of Antonio - since 4 of Catherine’s children were deceased by the 1900 census. Antonio may have been one of the deceased children.
