NOTE 2: IN 1870, Elam ROPER, age 52, is still residing in Moscow, Hickman County, KY, with wife, Ann, age 40, Allen ROPER, age 10, John, age 7, Henry D., age 4, and Robert S., age 1/12 [at 22 Aug 1870]; as well as Bill or Bell UHLES, age 14 [female] and Alkent?? UHLES, age 21 Male. Allen ROPER, age 10, is shown to be Black. All others in this household are shown to be White. NOTE 3: In 1870, William ROPER, age 30, is residing in Moscow, Hickman County, KY, with wife Jane, age 24, and son William Jr., age 1. All were born in KY. Also, Albert ROPER, age 22, is residing in the household of George W. STEPHENS, age 39. Albert is shown as a farm laborer. NOTE 4: In 1870, Dutoy ROPER and his family are enumerated in Tiptonville, District 1, Lake County, TN. Dutoy is shown as "Dutah ROPER", age 35. His wife is shown as Burnette, age 28. CHildren shown are Sloan, age 10, RObert Lee, age 6, and Amanda, age 3. All of these were born in KY, EXCEPT for Amanda, suggesting that Dutoy moved to TN between 1864 and 1867. Also living in this household are Albert PILLOW, age 19, and Joe IRVINE, age 20. Amanda WORDEN, age 35, appears to live lives next door [enumerated in adjacent record]. NOTE 5: In 1870, there are three additional households which appear to have the surname of either ROSS or ROP, which are ON THE SAME Moscow page as teh family of Elam ROPER. These households are headed by Ruben ROSS/ROP, age 48; William ROSS/ROP, age 46; and John ROSS/ROP. All were born in Tennessee. These records bear further scrutiny.
