From census records I have deduced that Winifred Roper was born around 1840 and that she was born in Ireland. From census records I have also deduced that Hugh Campbell was born about 1830, also in Ireland, and that he came to the U. S. in about 1850. I have been unable to find out where or when exactly, who his parents were or when he was born. I have tons of information on the children of Winifred Roper and Hugh Campbell. All were born and reared in New Orleans. Here's what I know: Rebecca Campbell, born 26 December 1858, married Henry R. Ducastaing 9 July 1906, died 13 March 1933, in New Orleans Mary Alice Campbell, born 1 December 1860, married William McCloskey 27 January 1880, died 21 July 1933, in New Orleans Elizabeth Campbell, born 16 July 1861 (cannot find anything else on her marriage and/or death) Winifred Campbell, born 7 March 1864, married Robert Simpson 4 May 1880, and died 24 January 1893 in New Orleans Isabella Campbell, born July 1868, married Richard Deane (no marriage certificate), died 12 February 1893 in New Orleans. She also had a child with George Smith. Irene Campbell, born 13 March 1870, married John J. Bonneval about 1886, died 26 June 1891 in New Orleans. Hugh Campbell, Jr., born 23 March 1872, died 25 April 1899. Patrick Campbell, born 1 March 1874, married Ellen "Nellie" Farrell 21 February 1900, died 27 December 1912 in New Orleans Jennie Campbell, born October 1878, married Charles Grunberg 26 November 1899, died in New Orleans on 4 October 1908 William J. Campbell, born October 1880, married 27 May 1901 to Florence Fresch, died 4 October 1931 I have copies of the 1860, 1870, 1880 census records. I have searched the 1850 census records for Hugh and for Winifred, but the 1850 information is very limited. I have plenty of information on their children and grandchildren. The only Roper mention is in the baptismal certificate for one of the Campbell kids. Mary Roper is the sponsor. If you can think of anything I might have missed, please let me know.
