When did this Baptism take place and WHERE? While Mary ROPER is a fairly common name, there were only several ROPER famliies of Irish origin in New Orleans. Perhaps we can at least identify the BEST candidate as the CAMPBELL child's godmother. Also, do you know the names of OTHER sponsors (Godparents) of the CAMPBELL children? Perhaps there is some tidbit of information there that might give us some additional traction. For example, there might be a Godparent who is also a female ROPER married to another. I have sometimes found it to be very helpful to study the names of persons appearing adjacent to ROPERs or involved in transactions with ROPERs to gain further insight into a particular family. For example, I have found YATES coinciding with ROPERs over a period in excess of two hundred years from England through Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina. * Bear in mind that the accessibility of information regarding genealogy continues to improve. I believe that the resources readily available to Irish genealogists will improve considerably within the next year or two. At some point, I think some helpful information will emerge and it will prove to be helpful to have this specific information readily available to other researchers!
