Hello Everyone, I'm new to this list & wonder if anyone could please assist me with the following query? Trying to find any information on Fred Roper, Showman who had a stage act called Fred Roper & His Wonderful Midgets. He & the act used to perform during the 1930's within the UK & then during the 1940's within the US. I have seen an old clipping from the 'New Yorker' on-line which states he was stranded there because of the War etc.... Fred Roper was born in the UK - date / place, as yet unknown but possibly born around the turn of the 20th century?? Fred married a Welsh girl - Elsie M Lewis, b 29 Jan 1911, Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales (who would have been a half aunt within our family). She was small in stature & was part of his touring troupe of Midgets both in the UK & US. I'm uncertain at this time if they married within the UK or the US. Fred & Elsie had a daughter called Cherie (Sherrie / Sherry??) ROPER, who was I believe born in the US & is still alive there today. The couple stay in the US & settled in Florida, where I believe that they both died, certainly Elsie did. She died 1 Jan 2002 Saint Petersburg, Pinellas, Florida.
