Hi Folks, Greetings from Toronto, Canada. Joel ROPER was born in 1810 in Chideock, Dorset, a son of John ROPER and of Jane SYMONDS, his wife. Joel farmed in Mappercombe in the parish of Powerstock; then, in Delcombe Farm in the parish of Milton Abbas, Dorset; and lastly, in Winterborne Clenston, Dorset. Joel married Mary Gapper FOWLER (1818 - 1865) and they had issue: 1. Mary Fowler ROPER, born 1841 in Mappercombe; she married Francis Wride MATTHEWS, farmer of Barford St. Martin, Wilts, and they had issue; 2. John ROPER, born 1842 in Delcombe; John was a yeoman farmer in Winterborne Whitchurch and in Winterborne Clenston; he married Ann FOOKES in 1864 and they had issue; 3. Joseph Fowler ROPER, born in 1844 in Delcombe; Joseph was a yeoman farmer in Dorset and in Wilts; he married Sarah MAYO in 1867 in Poxwell and they had issue; 4. William Robert ROPER, born in 1846 in Delcombe; Robert was a yeoman farmer in Winterborne Clenston; he married Mary Spinney KEYNES in 1872; no known issue; 5. William Norris ROPER, born in 1849 in Winterborne Clenston, Dorset; he married Letitia KEYNES in 1871; they lived in Milton Abbas, Dorset; in Chitterne All Saints, Wilts; and in Stockbridge, Hants, and they had issue.
