Posted and appraised to 9l. DAVID ROPER." * * * This ad seems likely to have been placed by David ROPER (b 29 Jun 1742), son of Charles ROPER and Anne GOODWYN, but there were also other contemporary David ROPERs. My ancestor David ROPER (b 13 Nov 1744, d 16 Apr 1808 - Charles City, VA) is NOT known to have lived in Brunswick County. However, it is also true that David ROPER's (d 1808) inventory dated 10 Oct 1808 contained a sorrel mare appraised at 12l. But it seems unlikely that this could be the same sorrel horse found in Brunswick 36 years earlier!
