This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Roper, Goodwin Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/kgDBAEB/759.1 Message Board Post: Amy: Could you please furnish a few additional details that would give us a bit of better traction. Other than the fact that Sarah Belle Roper GOODWIN was your great-grandmother, you have given us VERY LITTLE inidication of the TIME FRAME we are to consider. Bear in mind that we have amongst the ROPER genealogical community family historians ranging in age from teenagers to octogenarians. And time between generations varies widely within branches of the family and intergenerationally. If you are in your teens with very compressed generational time, your great-grandmother might have been born as recently as the 1930s and even MORE recently if we were looking at some matrilinear lines. If you are in your seventies and the generational time was extended in your branch of the family, your great-grandmother might have been born in the 1830s! Tell us what you DO know about these ancestors -- precise or estimated dates of birth; precise, or estimated dates of marriage and precise or estimated dates of death. Also tell us the PLACES you KNOW. I have had a great deal of success helping ROPER genealogists discover a great deal about their roots. Somtimes I can push a line back several generations using online resources and my own notes in a matter of several hours. But I need sufficient SPECIFICS to FOCUS my research and to make economic use of my time!
