Roper, 79, in his home in Carmel, Cal. He retired in 1935 after more than 30 years as an engineer for Commonwealth Edison company. Services were held Friday in Pacific Grove, Cal. He was a member of the Union League club. Surviving are his widow, Sarah M.; a daughter, Mrs. Helen R. Marquis; a son, John N. and a sister, Jessie.
