Sine Martin Keith named his first son Ruebin Roper Keith has always led me to believe the connection. As for Joel M. Keith, I believe his middle name was " Mackey " since his mothers father was " Joel Mackey ". Many of the Keiths left Pickens Co and moved to Hall Co. Ga area (Forsyth Co borders it). This is where I live. There was Martin Keith, Asa Keith, George Keith (my line), James Keithm. Cynthia Looper, and a William Keith m. Rachel Elrod, who all moved to the area in the early 1800's. I can document all the George Keith line. He married Margaret Mackey, another d. of Joel Mackey. I can't document Asa, William, Martin or James Keith parents. I know they all resided in the Surry Co.NC area in the late 1700's before moving to Pickens Co. SC, along with many of the same families we have mentioned.
