The denomination with which this Samuel ROPER was associated seemed to originate in West Virginia. The great-grandfather of Samuel ROPER (Chr 16 Mar 1802) -- James ROPER -- was the FATHER of Nicholas ROPER (b 20 Dec 1738 - Thrandeston, Suffolk, England, d 13 jan 1817 - Jefferson, WV). Thus, Samuel ROPER had second cousins resident in West Virginia, perhaps precisely on his migration path to Golconda. Samuel may have first traveled to America and found his way to his cousin's home, then later floated down the Ohio River from West Virginia, landing at Golconda as Illinois was being settled. A test subject from this Samuel ROPER's family ought to closely match the test results for the family of Nicholas ROPER, of West Virginia.
