I DO from endeavor to look at the LAST Census page in each district to verify the certification information, but very frequently find that the way that Ancestry parses the data often results in the certification being difficult to find. I checked the Ancestry images for Pendleton in 1790 and Image 15 of 15 bears out what you explain. The information therein shows that the substance of what you report is correct. However, not to quibble, but there are a couple of very small deviation which bear mention. First, the date of the certification seems to appear in two places. Neither seems to say the 17th of May, at least for this particular list. Instead, in one place there is an ambiguous number which might be "20" and might be "28." The second mention unequivocally says "20". I read this list to have been certified on 20 May 1791. Secondly, I read the certification of this page to show that John C. Kilpatrick was commissioned as an Assistant Marshal by Robert ANDERSON, who states that he commissioned KILPATRICK "on the first day of March last." Thus, these particular Census returns seem likely to have been taken between 01 Mar 1791 and 20 May 1791. It is very helpful to have this additional elaboration! Thank you very much for sharing!!
