Author: batchelorw Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.roper/1937.6.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Bill, You did not mention the following abstract contained in the database of L. David Roper: "Charles City County, Virginia Records 1737-1774 with Several 17th Century Fragments by Benjamin B. Weisiger III: ... May Court 1744: p. 296: Deed of gift John Roper and Jane his wife to their son David Roper recorded." On the surface, these three (John, Jane, and David) would appear to be the same people mentioned in the Inventory of John Roper's estate. If so, David is a definite son of John and Jane Roper. I am generally in agreement with your analysis on Charles Roper. Although I believe that Charles Roper was a son on John, because one of the other co-executors (David) was his son, I have reservations about that relationship without further evidence.
