The brother of David Roper of Cumberland was not John A. Roper. John A. Roper was David's son, as shown in the probate records. John C. Roper, also known as John Roper, Jr.in the 1820 Cumberland, KY census, was the brother of David Roper and also the son of John Roper, Sr. who came up from Caswell, NC. Interestingly, in taking a glance at the original will of Philip Lawson, he mentions a purchase of land from what appears to be a John C. Roper, if I am reading it correctly.
