    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: waroper Surnames: Roper Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.roper/1758.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: By accident, I have recently stumbled across a couple of posts by other researchers who seem to believe that David ROPER (b 08 Jun 1792 - SC, d 17 Apr 1878 - Lawrence, MO), of Greene County, Missouri, was a minister. In a post at the Christian County, MO, Message Board, I found this Query: Roper (12 May 1998 2:00AM) "Searching for information about Reverend David Roper. He first lived in Greene County,MO. It is said that he moved to Christian County, MO. This time period was 1830's in Greene and about 1840 movement to Christian. There were two David Ropers that came to this area but the second did not come to Missouri until after 1850. Rev. Davids wife we think was Rebecca or Elizabeth. They came to Missouri from Hardeman County, TN. Thanks for the help. Regards, C.M." http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.christian/130/mb.ashx * A similar terse post by the same researcher appeared two years later at the Greene County Message Board: "Roper" (28 Mar 2001 1:00AM) "Searching for any information about Rev. David Roper who came to Greene Co. MO in the 1830 era. Please contact me. C.M." http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.greene/251.572/mb.ashx * This post appeared in December of last year at the Ozarks Genealogy site of the Springfield, MO, News Leader: Ozarks Genealogy (December 9, 2013) "Query: ROPER: C.M. E-mail: [See linked Post for e-mail address] I would like to correspond with anyone researching the Roper name, descendants of Rev. David Roper and wife Rebecca. Their descendants were in an area from Springfield to Joplin Missouri. I am not sure but think the car dealership at Joplin is in fact descendants of this group. Thanks," http://www.news-leader.com/legacy/genealogy/queries568.shtml The Query resulted in this reply: "Reply: The following information is taken from findagrave.com, Biography by Wanda (Hendricks) Blackwell. David ROPER", but given the number of early ROPER ministers this also seems plausible. I have posted responses to both of the Message Board Posts and will separately correspond with the researcher via e-mail. This David ROPER was NOT YET BORN at the date of the 1790 U.S. Census for Rutherford, NC, in which a Rev. David ROPER was enumerated.
