Philip L Roper and Mary Oden had a son named Charles J. Roper, b. 1852, d. Dec. 27, 1927, Mt. Vernon, Franklin County, TX. His death certificate is where I eventually found proof that Charles J. Roper married Mary Oden. His death certificate only says that he was widowed. Secondary sources have shown both a Callie Cannon and a Callie Lawson as being the wife of Charles J. Roper. Charles J. Roper and Callie had a son that they named Andy Lawson Roper. Andy in turn named a child Callie. Because of the middle name of Lawson, some researches, including me apparently, may have thought that Callie was a Lawson. However, Charles J. Roper and Callie had a son named Albert G. Roper, b. January 22, 1891 in Hopkins County, TX; d. August 19, 1962, Dallas, TX.. His death certificate, which states that he is "Albert C. Roper", says that his parents were Charles Roper and Callie Cannon. I am sure that this Albert G. Roper and Albert C. Roper are the same person. There is an application for a headstone for Veterans of the War by Albert G. Roper's wife, Elsie (Mae Bussell) Roper, dated September 4, 1962, In that application, the birth and death dates for Albert G. Roper match the dates for Albert C. Roper.
