David ROPER seems to have recently posted some additional abstracted information from the Pulaski County, Kentucky, Deed Books to his Kentucky ROPER Families page. This information includes some information about James ROPER's manumitted slaves: "Pulaski Co. Deed Book, #9, p. 212: This indenture of sale made into this day 24 June 1837 between John D. This obligation is such that whereas the said David Roper has Emancipated and set free his negro slaves to wit: Hector, Lucy, Green, Niagra, Violet, Margaret and Polly Ann." * The date of the bond 21 Aug 1837 seems to fix the date of the manumission shown two pages earlier. We are therefore given this information about the slaves and their ages: Hector, age abt 29 (b abt 1808) Lucy, age 27 (b abt 1810) Greene, age 10 (b abt 1827) Niagara, age 8 (b abt 1829) Violet, age 6 (b abt 1831) Margaret, age 4 (b abt 1833) Polly Ann, 4 mo.
