(My secondary sources show that his wife was Callie T.Cannon, b. Mar 1869, > d. Mar 8, 1904, Hopkins, TX, but I have no further information on this.)" It occurs to me to wonder whether your secondary source is CORRECT in identifying this as a CANNON marriage. Of course, if Callie was a widow, BOTH surnames might be correct. Given the tendency in years past for cousins to migrate together, I cannot help but wonder whether a ROPER - CANNON intermarriage in Texas might somehow further inform us as to the identity and origin of the family of the Rebecca CANNON who is shown to have married David ROPER, of Greene County, MO. This is admittedly a bit of a long shot, but some resolution of Callie LAWSON or CANNON's correct identity and the identity of her parents just might lead us to some other relation of Rebecca CANNON's.
