    1. Sarah ROPER, m. Henrico Co, Virginia 1800
    2. Carole Dilley
    3. A listing of Male Marriage Bond Index Copies, 1781-1831 for Henrico County, Virginia includes the following: Oct 9, 1800....McKim, Andrew....Roper, Sarah I am seeking information about this couple. I believe the Andrew listed above, may be Andrew MCKIM (1751-1895) the well-known Richmond, VA Windsor Chair Maker and Turner This Andrew died in December 1805 leaving two small orphaned children - Mary Ann (1800-1828) and Andrew, who I believe was younger than Mary Ann. They became the wards of Andrew's brothers Robert and Alexander MCKIM. Sarah ROPER may have been Andrew's second wife. Any thoughts and guidance would be appreciated. Carole Dilley Rhode Island

    1. ROPER- VA, TN, AR, TX
    2. Pollyana Brown
    3. I seldom post to the list since I've been at a brick wall so long I've *almost* given up. My ggrandmother, Lilia ROPER, was born in Arkansas (near" Little Rock). According to census information, her father was born in Virginia; her mother b. about 1832,in Tennessee. The following in sum total of the clues I have on Lilia ROPERs origins: Lilia ROPER, b. 1868, AR. (so her father, ???ROPER, must have been alive about nine months earlier (circa August, 1867). In 1875 Lilia's mother, Manerva C. (maiden name unknown) gave birth to Lilia's brother, Willis THOMSON, in TX. In 1877, Manerva C. THOMSON married N. ANDERSON in Franklin County, TX. Lilia got married in June, 1880- age 12) in Franklin County, TX) I have no additional information on what happened to Manerva or Willis or "N." (I do suspect they all died!) Manerva would have been 36 years old when Lilia was born, so I suspect there were most probably some older ROPER children. Or an even earlier 1st marriage! Would like to hear from anyone with ROPERs who might possibly have a faint connection to this family!! (For example, do you have a ROPER ancestor whose father was born circa 1830 and died by 1868, and who had a connection to VA, TN, AR, or TX?) 3. I'm hoping someone familiar with Ephraim can help me with a little detective work. Ephraim married (2) Hannah (Brewer) Goble in 1677. Hannah was the widow of Daniel Goble, and the mother of several Goble children. She married Ephraim while the children were still young, and he reportedly raised them. One child was Daniel Goble, Jr., but the child of interest to me was Alice Goble born 1673. Alice was alive in 1690, and I'm interested in finding out if, and who, she married. Ephraim and Hannah were killed in 1697, and I understand he left a will. I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with that will, and whether any mention of the adopted children, particularly Alice, was made. My hypothesis is that she was the wife of Nathaniel Woods, so she may be listed as a Woods. Its possible she might also be listed with the names "Elsey" or Eleanor. I would love to hear from anyone familiar with Ephraim who might be able to shed some light on the Goble children he adopted. Thanks, Gordon Kirkemo
