I have found these steps to be invaluable: 1. Learn the basics of HTML and CSS. Why? See step 2. WYSIWYG editors are fine to start, but your goal should be to wean yourself of them ASAP. 2. Steal unashamedly! When you see something you admire in someone else's page, look at the source to see how it's done. 3. Avoid flashy gewgaws. (the KISS principle) Particularly if they require JavaScript.. Particularly if they involve music. Particularly if they are supported by only one browser. 4. Validate. It's fast. It's free. It's easy. You can't expect browsers to render your pages as you want if they are not properly constructed. Never use (or don't rely on) a browser as your validator. HTML: http://validator.w3.org/ CSS: http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ As usual, there are many routes to success. I have found these principles to have worked well for me. -- Regards, Rod Dav4is / P.O.
