That will indeed work, but it is much easier with a programmer's editor that incorporates a macro language. I have several hundred HTML files on 29 sites, and when dealing with that quantity of files, something more powerful than Notepad or Wordpad is needed. Changing the email address that I post on those pages would be a horrible task with a simple editor, but it easily be automated with my editor, Vedit, which can make a universal change to all files containing that address and then give me a list of changed files that need to be uploaded. 3. I am enjoying and benefiting from the discussion about website software and wanted to express my gratitude for all the recent posts. I recently hired a local woman to help me update our Rootsweb homepage website she was not Mac savvy, but helped me with some basic changes. Our website was created about 1995 by an IMFA member in the Midwest, and it has been hanging out there in limbo for all these years. I used the validator website posted recently, and found we have 61 errors with the newly written code! And I still cannot get 2 photos to appear. I am using skEdit and the Rootsweb file manager to upload. Please keep recommending programs, even though Vedit, most recently recommended by Dale H. Cook, does not run on the Mac and appears it may be too advanced for my needs. I learn something from each and every message. Can't remember if this has been mentioned or not but Firefox, IE and Opera all offer web developer toolbars which among other things make it easy to validate both you html coding and your style sheets. I could not do without them. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/60/ http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=e59c3964-672d-4511-bb3e-2d5e1db91038&displaylang=en http://operawiki.info/WebDevToolbar pat ____________ Pat Geary http://www.family-genealogy-online.com/ http://www.genealogy-web-creations.com/ http://www.blog.family-genealogy-online.com/
