Can anyone tell me what FTP address to use to upload to RootsWeb directly from Front Page 2000. Up 'til now, I've always FTP'd in through IE but, after upgrading to IE7, that wouldn't work. I solved the problem by uninstalling IE7 (from "Add/Remove Programs") which reverted me back to the earlier IE version and I'm now able to upload through the browser once again. The whole thing got me thinking, though (I hate it when that happens). There must be a way to upload directly from Front Page, but apparently my pea brain can't handle it because everything I've tried fails. I started with ftp://loginname:[email protected]/home0001/usa/co/accountname/public _html/ because that's where I go if I FTP straight into my account. That failed (The URL ftp://loginname:0 is invalid), though I don't understand why it's seeing :0 when I typed my password. Tried the same thing but omitted the public_html/ but that failed too. Tried using the same thing I use to FTP through my browser and get spanked again (Could not find a web server at [email protected] I've also tried ftp://www.rootsweb.com/home0001/usa/co/loginname/public_html/ (425: Can't build data connection. Connection refused). I've also tried a plethora of variations on preceding three options, but crash & burn every time. While it's true that I won't die if I can't upload directly from FP, it sure would be nice to let FP make sure all the new pages that got edited get loaded and so on. BTW, I've tried both with and without enabling folder view for FTP sites and with and without allowing passive FTP. Perhaps I'm suffering from cranio-rectal inversion? Can anyone help me figure this out? Sheila www.foothillsgenealogy.org Sheila All Incoming and Outgoing E-mails are Sanitized for Your Protection by Norton Anti-Virus - a Symantec product
Have you checked out Cheri Zuber's publishing with FP2000? http://freepages.misc.rootsweb.com/~zuber/gentips/newsite/5publish/frontpg/fp2000.htm With FP 2003 I use ftp://users.rootsweb.com/public_html type in user name and pw box pops up just type it in and go from there. Make sure and check passive ftp. pat At 04:08 PM 12/15/2006, Sheila Hanna wrote: >Can anyone tell me what FTP address to use to upload to RootsWeb directly >from Front Page 2000.
