    3. I use NVU and I like it, but it does not appear to have been updated since June 28th, 2005. The author seems to be working on something called Composer (is/was the name of the Mozilla based Netscape web page editor I used to use). I don't know what it is compared to NVU. The only complaint I have is that when I build or add to tables, it keeps gobbling memory until I save the page with the table, close NVU, start in up again and return to editing the table. I also have to FTP images separately. Annoying but I can live with it for free. I was looking for a more robust web page editor and was seriously considering Dreamweaver 8 in spite of its high price (yes, I know, you can get it cheaply on eBay but there has to be a reason for a price to be so low for a full blown legal copy). If you go for Adobe's Creative Suite software, you'll be taking some serious dollars because the Design and Web editions contain more than just Dreamweaver. Instead I'm investigating the /free /CoffeeCup HTML editor <www.coffeecup.com/freestuff/> and its related /fee /programs <www.coffeecup.com/software>. It's a bit fragmented (unlike Dreamweaver) since there are several programs you might want to put together for the page editing done the way you want to do it, but, you only pay for what you want and some of it is free. Plus, there are trial downloads (30 days for most or all) you can try out. For perspective, Adobe PageMill is the predecessor to Adobe GoLive, which is the predecessor to Dreamweaver. Adobe bought Macromedia when they decided to capture the web page editor market and basically replaced their GoLive. Having said all that, if you like the Dreamweaver you are using and can afford the upgrade, that's the way to go. If you are new to Dreamweaver, then prepare for a new user interface and commit to the time necessary to learn it. It's not a simple drop in. They have a trial version so try it before you buy it. Free? NVU. Free and some money, check out CoffeeCup. Take care and good luck... Peter Bradish P.S. I'm not a professional. I'm retired and have all my days full of the things I've always wanted to do and have little spare time. ;-) Jacques L'Heureux wrote: I use Dreamweaver 4 because I got it free from my previous employer. But it is getting old and I am about to try some of the free editors. The most appealing one is NVU from nvu.com. If others have tried it, I would like to get your opinion on it.
