Hi Judy, You didn't indicate (at least I don't think I saw it) the operating system (i.e. Windows 98, 2000, XP) or the version of Photoshop. New versions of Photoshop (CS, CS2) run best on XP and newer. Having your Photoshop program on the same drive (C-drive) as your operating system is not a problem. The ideal is to separate the programs from the operating system. But it's not a necessity. I run Photoshop 7 on my Windows 2000 laptop with 512mb RAM and all on the c-drive. I've never had a problem. It's quick and works well. I do know that newer versions of Photoshop will not perform well on my laptop and that's why I have stuck with Photoshop 7. If you're running newer versions of Photoshop on say Windows XP, 512mb RAM may not be enough. It will run but you may see performance is bad because it runs slow. You can easily fix this by adding more RAM. 1GB RAM would be great. Again this will all depend on how old your operating system is and whether you can add more RAM. Adding RAM is easy, it's just a matter of snapping extra memory sticks into slots in your computer. If you don't know how to do it ask a computer savvy friend or take it to Best Buy and ask them to do it. WinXP Pro, PS7, 512 RAM (laptop, no more slots and supposedy highest this laptop will run on the motherboard?, I was told by Gateway.) Laptop 6 mos old. I never had this error message before, running on the same system with the same programs loaded. The error happened after wiping the harddrive clean, and reloading the same programs I had before.
