hello, Although the powers that be at Rootsweb, didn't think this was or is a problem, we, at our *community* web-site certainly believe it is a major problem. Although it happened 2 months ago, we are still paying the price. It has cost us much in time and effort, and needless to say ....a very *Great* disappointment at the lack of help from Rootsweb. Our web-techie states (Names removed) ------------------------------------------------- It was a hacker They injected malicious code into the index pages using "I' frames. It wouldn't have messed users around much, all it did was give these low-lifes "pay-per-click" to a myriad of sleazy websites, which our visitors would be unknowingly doing as these I frames were only 1 pixel in size so you wouldn't know they were loading on the pages. I've removed the code, but they did screw up some pages, but now that security is sorted I'll get on to it. How the website got compromised we don't know, but there was no point in fixing anything until such time as we obtained a new password. (someone) explained the situation to Rootsweb but seemingly they didn't understand the urgency of the issue. end of message ---------------------------------------- I simply cannot understand this, and would appreciate guidance and suggestions.We have worked on this site as a group of many folks, from a mailing list for over 5 years now and have lost alot of data.
