Did you and your group not each keep copies of the pages that each of you uploaded? I try to maintain at least two copies of any file uploaded file so that in the event anything happens, I can quickly restore the original file. I have only had pages overwritten and made a mess of twice in eleven years but nothing was lost but the minute or so it required to ftp the file again. How many persons in the group have access to add or modify the pages? More than one person with access is where these type problems usually occur. Only two others have access to the account for our state project. Our problems both happened when one of those forgot to change to their sub-folder before uploading their index.html file. Of course they overwrote the main state page index file as a result. Most Rootsweb account have very secure passwords. I would think that the most like source for your "hacker" was someone who had access to a computer that one of your group uses for uploading their files. As an example, does any of your group use a public computer (one in a library or other with public access)?? Does any of the group have children or grandchildren who would find doing something like this a "fun" prank to pull? There may be other possibilities but these are the first ones to come to mind.
