I am getting the following message when I am trying to upload my webpages. Can someone please help me? "Could not find a Web server at 'www.rootsweb.com' on port 21. Please check to make sure that the Web server name is valid and your proxy settings are set correctly. If you are sure that everything is correct, the Web server may be temporarily out of service." 1. I don't know how to change my proxy settings. 2. I went to rootsweb.com and it seems to be working. So I think the server is working. 3. I haven't got a clue as to what this means. Thanks, Alice

The domain www.rootsweb.com is probably only running an http server (port 80), which is why it appears to be working to your browser. Port 21 is the "well known address" for ftp. www.rootsweb.com is probably not running an ftp server on port 21. Did you receive instructions? Re-read them. Alice, You more than likely should be using either users.rootsweb.com, users.freepages.rootsweb.com or ftp.rootsweb.com, depending on the type of account you were issued. The information should be in the original email that you received with the username and password. The hostname is what you are looking for and you'll use as the host address.
