    3. Sharon, A new computer doesn't mean you need new password into rootsweb or freepages accounts. Heck, I've had 4 different computers in the last few years and never needed my info changed. Here is an explanation of code 530 from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318380 (begin quote) " 530 - This status code indicates that the user cannot log on because the user name and password combination is not valid. If you use a user account to log on, you may have mistyped the user name or password, or you may have chosen to allow only Anonymous access. If you log on with the Anonymous account, you may have configured IIS to deny Anonymous access." (end quote) So review the settings in your ftp program. If you've just been copying the user name or password, TYPE in each piece. Make sure you don't have the ~ before your user name. Make sure you don't have an extra space somewhere. Go over each piece. There's a mistake somewhere in the user name or password, it's just a matter of finding it. Note, if you keep re-trying after a 530 error code, you'll get the same failure repeated. It's not that it is failing "each" time-- it's failing ONCE and then it just keeps saying "whoever is trying to open this door, you either don't have the right name (username) or right key (password) -- we'll let you in after you identify yourself properly". It will keep repeating and blocking you until you enter the right info in the right way. Judy On Sun, Sep 12, 2010 at 3:39 PM, <DULCICH6@aol.com> wrote: > Thank you all for the very helpful advice.
