Pat, isn't that for people who used the themes that Front Page has with all the decorations, etc., I mean the themes that goes with the Front Page set ups? I never used Front Page like that and only used it for the code so I am not sure that would work for me or not - maybe you will know. Also - I have been reading that I can do a transfer with Dreamweaver 8, too. But I see the instructions are about the same as with Expression web. They have in the instructions how to set up a template to switch all of the Front Page themes, etc., which I do not have. So, sorry to bother you with this again, but maybe you will know if that would work for me or not. The Table2clipboard addin for Firefox can clean up the rest of it. http://www.expression-web-tutorials.com/table2clipboard.html Is the menu you are talking about using going to appear on every page (it should). You should be able to open the site in either ew or dw with no problem I would think. You are already using an embedded style sheet so could easily convert it to an external sheet and attach it to all pages. This would certainly make making changes to the look of the site easier. You would also develop a DWT or dynamic web template in either program for the parts of the site that will remain the same then attach it to the content. As an example, this site http://dewitt.ilgenweb.net/ use a couple of DWT's. The front page is different than the inside pages. The inside pages look like this http://dewitt.ilgenweb.net/portrait-biographical-album.htm with the header, menu and footer standard for all pages. A lot of work, YES but after it is complete it will be much easier to maintain. Not sure how Evrsoft First Page 2006 works so a DWT may not be possible in this program. Pat
Thanks, Pat. I will look at these options. If you have never used fp themes then thats a route you don't have to take. however moving from fp to ew or anything else not just a matter of moving from themes and other bots like the navigation bot..... Unless you know what you are doing its quite easy to have ended up with older coding specially if you moved through the version of fp. There are many different scenerio's it all depends on what yours is on how you move forward.... because if you do have themes then removing them with fp first is better... and if you have a old dwt then there is a neat method for moving to the new one with much less work... there are tips and tricks for cleaning your code more easily too. What fp version(s) have you used and what is your latest one? If all you need to do is clean up your code..... then making a brand new template that validates .... removing the old template (did you use fp03 and use dwts? - there is method to move between dwts) and cleaning the code on your content then putting your new template and old content together..... This will give you an insight http://www.experts-exchange.com/Web_Development/Software/Expression_Web/A_2840-Migrating-from-FrontPage-to-Expression-Web.html We were thinking about bringing out a ebook just for moving from outdated coding to valdiating standards coding ..... its all a matter of perception really. If you tell us exactly what you are using and what your site is we can give a better answer have you moved to Expression Web? If you have and have ew3.0 then you know you can upgrade f ree to ew 4.0? If you havent you can upgrade at a reduced cost (you can even do it if you have a adobe product).
