Four of you got my page up on rootsweb. Here is the recipe I ultimately successfully followed. All the clicks are left clicks. 1. In FrontPage open the web you want to publish. 2. Check all your folder and file (page) names. You want none to have spaces in the name. Underscores _ are ok. FrontPage can handle spaces in names, some browsers can handle them, but some cannot, so they are unacceptible. Either delete the spaces or replace them with underscores. 3. Click on "File" on the main toolbar. 4. Click on "Publish Web". 5. Fill in "the location to publish your web to". Replace what is in the text box with "ftp//accounttype.rootsweb.com/public_html" where "accounttype" is the type of rootsweb account your site is. Mine is "homepages", some are "users", there may be other types ... 6. Click on "options". 7. You can check whether you want to upload only changed pages or replace the whole site with new pages. You also can choose to upload subwebs. I don't know what that is so I ignored it. 8. Click "Publish". At some point, probably between 7. and 8. it will first ask for something like your name. It wants the name of your account. Then it will ask for your ID. That is the ID rootsweb gave you for use with your site. Be careful. You can't see what you enter and it is VERY case sensitive. At that point my new revised web site uploaded smooth as silk. Simple once you know how. Dick Kraus, April 2001.
