Hi All ~ The counter on my week old webpage had been working fine. Was in the 160s this morning. Tonight is says: "You are our (timeout locking file) visitor -- thanks for stopping by! " How/why did this happen and can I fix it?? Thanks, Linda

Q: How/why did this happen? A: It happened because the server was busy and couldn't get a lock on the counter file before the default timeout period for retrieving and updating the counter. Q: Can I fix it? A: Nope. It doesn't happen very often, but only the owner of the server (RootsWeb, I presume) can add more resources to resolve the problem. In my opinion, counters are interesting, but not vital. Does it really matter whether your page has been viewed 175 times or 179? Regards, Elsi
