>For my new website -- how do I name the first page Index without having >that show up as the name of the website at the top when someone visits the >page?? (Or if I add it to my favorites, it shows up as "Index"!!) Human-friendly page titles are contained in the <title> tag, which goes immediately after <head> and before the <meta> tags. Titles are very important because search engines use them (in addition to) meta tags to index your page. If the software you use to create your pages defaults to putting the file name in as the title, that would explain why you get "Index" as a favorite title. P.S. You would, of course, want to use "index" instead.
