Yes, it is possible if the message is offensive enough to warrant the extra work to remove it. 1. Find the offending message in the list archives. 2. Send a note to listmaster@rootsweb.com and give her the list name, date of the posting, and enough information to locate the message in the archives. (The URL returned from a search of the list is not good enough since these change every night when the archives are reindexed.) There's no guarantee that it will be removed -- the decision is up to the listmaster. Regards, Elsi
Hi, Yes, there are many ways to accomplish this depending on what software and hardware are available to you. I can give examples but the best solution for you will depend on your specific environment. For example, it is possible to use a data dictionary in association with the archives database. The data dictionary can be used to further remove messages automatically from the database. Depending on the operating system, shell scripts can accomplish the same thing. Of course it is always easier to prevent a problem than to fix one so systematic reviews of the existing filters are always a good practice. The difficult part comes in choosing what to include/exclude from the data dictionary so that the baby does not go out with the bath water :-) Cheers Elsi wrote: > At 04:39 PM 10/28/01 EST, McStumped@aol.com wrote: > >I would like to find out if there is any way to remove spam that has > bypassed > >the Rootsweb filters and is now in the archives of a list.
