    3. Last week I had a problem with my ISP which hosts a Website for me - my public folder had become invisible. Uploading to my Rootsweb site was OK so I reasonably assumed that CuteFTP was working. My ISP's Helpdesk said my public folder was visible - and that it had exactly the same permissions as all their other public folders. Eventually he created a fresh directory which I could both see and upload files to - but the public directory was still invisible. In the end he zipped up my Website files, deleted the public directory, made another (temporary) directory, which he was going to point to my public directory on their server, and a fresh public directory. Then he unzipped my Website and placed copies in both of them. At that point I could see both of the new made directories and upload files to them, no problem. He admitted that the problem was their end, and that he had never encountered the condition before and could offer no explanation. My copy of CuteFTP32 is 1.4 Final Beta 2. Nan: I just looked and your nycalexa account *does* have a public_html directory. So - let's see if we can figure out why you can't see it. 1) In your FTP set up, how is your Cute FTP configuration set up? You want to make sure that you haven't told Cute FTP to go ahead and place you inside the public_html directory. If it did so, then you wouldn't see it. By the way, the nycalexa account is set up almost identically to the nyjeffer account. If you are successfully using Cute FTP to access the nyjeffer account, just copy your configuration over and change the account & password. 2) How long have you had Cute FTP installed? If your copy is not a recent one, we'd recommend that you update it. Old levels of Cute FTP have problems with file dates in 2000 and 2001, making those files invisible to the Cute FTP program. 1. Another problem with WS-FTP

    3. Since our Rootsweb downtime, I've suddenly started seeing another minor problem with WS-FTP or ??? I will often upload a new page during the day and then later in the day I will upload it again, having made corrections to it. It is on this 2nd upload that I will receive the msg that "a newer version exists" and "do I want to continue?" Yesterday (3/11) I looked at the date of the page I had uploaded earlier in the morning. The date was 3/12!!! So, of course, since it was still 3/11, it was telling me that I was about to upload an "older" version. In other instances, the 1st date will still be the same date, but the time is anywhere from 4-10 hrs later than the time I actually uploaded it, and causing the same caution msg. Any ideas why this is happening? Nel

    3. Mike, There has been some problems with old versions of CuteFTP on seeing files and folders. Earlier this year I had problems seeing some files and folders on all 3 of my websites - 2 on RootsWeb and 1 on AT&T. I upgraded to the newest version of CuteFTP 4.2.2 and immediately saw all files and folders. I had no problem getting to public_html. The problem that person had with not seeing, getting to, "public_html" I believe was because she didn't have it setup in the remote location of her settings and she didn't know how to navigate to find it on-line for she readily admitted she was new to all this. Hopefully she has worked it out for haven't seen any more messages/replies from her. --- Susan SGTAYLOR1@att.net My Genealogy Website - sgt http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/ ----------------------------------------------- USGW Mansfield, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/mansfield.html USGW New London, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/newlondon.html USGW Norwich, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/norwich.html USGW Windham, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/windham.html USGW Coordinator Plymouth Co., MA - http://www.rootsweb.com/~maplymou/ USGW Plymouth, MA - http://www.rootsweb.com/~macplymo/ ********************************************************* At 01:31 PM 3/12/01 +0000, you wrote: >Last week I had a problem with my ISP which hosts a Website for me - >my public folder had become invisible.
